Jaci Burton: Wild, Wicked & Wanton

Three friends…three secret desires…three chances to make it all come true.

They’re inseparable best friends who delight in sharing their wildest secrets and dares. But their latest bet is the boldest one of all: each must sleep with whomever the other two have chosen for her. And come back with every juicy detail...

Whooooo hot!

All three stories are heroine-centric, and I personally think that it is quite the feat Jaci‘s managed to write three novellas featuring three different kinks without it feeling like she went “I’m going to write one menage, one BDSM and one voyeur/exhibitionist story and put them into one anthology.” Props to her for that.

Also, now that she’s written about the ABC girls, when is she going to write about the XYZ boys? Gotta have something to bookend our Jaci Burton collections. 😉

Individual reviews behind the cut, but first…

Abby married the town bad boy. And he lived up to his reputation, bedding any woman who let her guard down. She swore off men for good, but never counted on a pair of sexy veterinarians who are fulfilling a desire of their own.

I really really really wanted to flip to the last page of this one to find out how it ended. That alone should tell you how good this novella was.

Blaire is the town heartbreaker. Afraid to commit, she’s broken off three engagements. Yet there’s one man she never had the courage to bed. The one man she really loved. But now, the decision is out her hands.

I expected to like this one the best, actually. When it comes to erotic romance, I do have a preference for BDSM.

But I did not connect with Blaire, not the way I did with Callie or Abby. One part of me thinks that Rand is a bit too manipulative. I also felt that Wicked was rather rushed, possibly because Wicked appears to have span the longest period of time of the three.

Callie is the sensible one….but beneath it all she’s a true romantic, with the broken heart to prove it. Now her long-dormant fantasies may be getting a workout. A new man enters her life and everything about him is irresistible.

I think Wanton could have been my favorite novella.

I liked the way Jack handled Callie’s fears, and damn were the sex scenes hot.

But Callie…Well, I just think a woman like Callie who got back on her feet after becoming a widow and now has her own business isn’t going to fall apart just because an asshole said something (this is as close as I can get without Real Spoilers) about her relationship with Jack.
