February TBR Challenge: Gena Showalter’s Heart Of The Dragon

I’ve just finished reading this book, and I enjoyed it.

Showalter’s been on my radar for awhile, especially since Awaken Me Darkly. Now that’s the Showalter book I really want, but I’ll settle for what I can get. Especially since I’ve got no money in the Fictionwise account to get the e-book–I’ve a tiny little thing about trade paperbacks, you see.

Anyway, it’s a new take on the Atlantis legend. I’ve read more than a few of them, and this one seems to dip deeper into the paranormal/supernatural part of things. Which is all good.

What I really liked was that she managed to make wood come alive. That is, when Grace came onto the scene, Darius became human–you’ll see what I mean if you read the book. It usually doesn’t happen, and you’ll have to read a book with a hero made of wood (pun NOT intended).

I’ll probably get Jewel Of Atlantis, but I think I’m passing Heart Of The Dragon on. If you love paranormal romance, it’s pretty close to Must Read status.

The only reason why it doesn’t have Must Read status is because I’m a fussy bitch. Okay, I’m not, but my reading tastes lean slightly more to the less romancey of late.

Awaken Me Darkly is the only book of Gena’s I’ve read. I enjoyed it, but it wasn’t a WOW for me. And for trade size, the paper in my copy is really poor quality. The LUNAs are much nicer.

Hey, I’d be happy to mail this book to you if you’re interested. It’s not like I’m going to read it again. 🙂 E-mail me if you’d like it with your address.
